Some of the tricks that I use to save money that work anywhere in the world, are super easy, and need no special equipment to get started.
Packing a lunch – Packing a lunch will save you between $5 and $10 everyday. With packing your lunch you can also eat healthier because you know exactly what is in the food and how it was made. This is one of my favorite ways to try and watch my weight or even better if I am trying to lose some. In the winter time I love to pack homemade soup. I have tried many travel soup holders none seem to work better than a previously used food jar. After making up my soup on Sunday, I will portion out the soup into saved food jars and then take one to work each day. I already have a soup cup and spoon I keep at work. I then transfer by soup from the jar to the cup and heat it in the microwave. Erfolg (success), nice warm soup that didn’t spill in my lunch bag.
Making own Cleaning Supplies – I have another post with some of my favorite cleaning recipes that are easy to make, healthier for both your family and the environment.
Hanging Clothes to Dry – During the warmer weather seasons I hang my laundry in the sun to dry. The sun kills bacteria, and is a free way to get your clothes dry and not heat up your house. Depending on how hot it is and were you live, it can also be much faster. When the weather starts to get colder and unpredictable I will hang at least some of my clothes on an inside drying rack near the heaters. This helps speed up the laundry process for those who do all their laundry on the weekends as the dryers in Germany seem to average about 2 hours to dry each load. Hanging out your sweaters is especially important so they do not get ruined or shrink in the dryer. I also have two of the sock hangers that work wonderfully. And when you use the homemade laundry soap I don’t get the stiff socks that I used to get with store bought soaps.
